ABC’s Life on Mars has been canceled, according to multiple sources. The reason is because of diminishing ratings as the show has progressed throughout its first year.
Luckily for fans of Life on Mars, though, ABC will not pull the show until after the first season airs. This is rather rare for all networks, but especially for ABC. If you remember back to the end of 2008, ABC canceled Eli Stone and Pushing Daisies and still has not announced if (or when) they will air the remaining episodes on both series.
ABC’s decision is especially important because Mars will get a proper finale, one that solves the series’ mystery.
Mars has five more episodes in its 17-episode order before giving away to The Unusuals in April as was previously scheduled.
Personally, I started watching the show when it premiered because of Michael Imperioli and his ‘stache. I stuck around for a couple episodes, but I really don’t like detective dramas and series who take such a long time to solve one mystery. So I bailed, and I’m not entirely surprised to see ABC pull the plug on ABC.
