Two weeks ago, reports surfaced saying that Tom Brady had proposed to Gisele Bündchen on Christmas Eve in front of her parents on an airplane.

Those reports were never confirmed by the big boys of entertainment news – People, Usmagazine, LA Times, etc – and the status of Bündchen and Brady’s relationship remained unchanged.

But now, People has confirmed that the quarterback and supermodel were engaged this past Friday.

“He asked and she accepted,” a source close to the couple tells People. Family and friends were informed over the weekend. An official announcement, as well as preliminary wedding details, are being planned by Bündchen and her closest friends this week.

“The couple is discussing a huge fashionista event in the spring or a more intimate and quicker ceremony in Costa Rica, where Gisele has a home,” the source adds.

I don’t care about the ceremony, but I find it funny how Brady has a tendency to pick of another man’s pieces.

Back when Bündchen and Leonardo DiCaprio broke up, reports were continuously surfacing that said Bündchen wanted to settle down, get married and have kids with the Titanic actor.  DiCaprio, on the other hand, did not, and they eventually broke up.

And then we have Brady who, as he did when Drew Bledsoe was injured, pounced on his chance to bag the world’s most famous supermodel.  And it’s a good thing, too, because Brady dumped the mother of his child – Bridget Moynahan – for Bundchen shortly after Moynahan became pregnant. 

(Oh, and by the way, what is up with the Yankees hat?  Brady’s from the San Francisco area, went to school at Michigan, and plays in the Boston area for the Pats.  Where is your loyalty Tom?  Should we ask Ms. Moynahan?)
