John Costelloe, who Sopranos fans know as Jim “Johnny Cakes” Witowski from Part 1 of Season 6, shot and killed himself on Dec. 18, the New York Police Department confirms to the Associated Press.

Newsweek
Costelloe played the gay love interest of Vito on the HBO show, as you can see above. The AP reports that he was discovered by the police on the 18th when his family members were unable to reach him.
The reasoning behind Costelloe’s suicide is non-existant right now, so this is pure speculation, but I would hate it if the role of Johnny Cakes contributed to Costelloe’s suicide. With that being said, it likely didn’t help if that situation is true that his first name was the same as his character.
But I’m sure that the New York media will be all over this story in the coming days and weeks, so stay tuned for more news.
In the meantime, please pray for Costelloe’s family, if that’s what you believe in.
