Heath Ledger’s Oscar Push

Well, it started today.

Warner Bros. (the cousin of Bang) launched their Oscar push for Ledger to be the second posthumous Oscar winner.  The first was Peter Finch, who won the award for his starring role in Network (which starred the amazing Faye Dunaway).

The campaign was launched with a poster, which is a screen shot taken from the menacing opening scene, which is one of the best that I’ve seen for some time.

Whether Ledger will receive the honor is up for debate, and probably all of the players up for the Best Supporting Actor will come to the surface around the holiday season, when the “arty” movies are released.

Someone to watch – and I know this film has not yet been released – will be James Franco in Milk.  This movie is getting a ton of Oscar buzz – especially for Sean Penn’s performance – so don’t be surprised if it’s the big winner, and potentially steals the Oscar from Ledger.

The other thing that I wouldn’t discount is people voting against Ledger in the hope to keep their voting integrity. It’s one of those things that I think the Grammy voters did last year, when they passed over Kanye West and Amy Winehouse for the Album of the Year for a compilation of Jazz tracks.

Anyways, here’s the first of many Oscar posters for Ledger:

What do you think?  Does Ledger have your vote, or is it too early to tell?

  1. It’s definitely too early to tell, but if I were to predict the future I’d say he gets nominated for Best Supporting Actor, but doesn’t win.

  2. Very nice and helpful information has been given in this article. I like the way you explain the things. Keep posting. Thanks. . .
